Breath Taking Beauty

Posted by torylynn at 11:55 PM on March 11, 2008
Have you ever witnessed something where you find yourself having to stop just to stare at the profound beauty that is unexpected set before you? I do, and I did.  I shared with friend recently my memory of one such morning when I went to work.

The fields were quiet and the barbed fences lined the country road where I drove going to work.  I pulled over when I spotted a small heard of horses that had gotten loose.  Running free of the fences that had held them in some unknown field.  I knew the owner would be out looking for them soon, as even I could tell with my untrained eye they were well taken care of and happy as the spirit emanated from their spirited gait.

The thing that caught my attention was the way those five horsed held their heads so high and proud, exited by their adventure.  Their shiny chocolate brown coats glistened in the morning light.  They galloped by me as I sat in my car watching them just wishing I had my camera, but knowing their beauty I saw couldn't be captured with a simple lens.  As the horses came up on me they they slowed to a dancing prance ... excited and nervous at the same time as they stared at me not knowing what to expect.  Their eyes were all knowing as they met mine as I watched in awe with a smile of wonder on my face before they galloped down the street behind me, proud, confident and powerful.

As you read this, you can probably guess that I truly love the simple things in life and I take joy in the beauty around me.  Those beautiful horses will forever be ingrained in my memory that glorious peaceful morning.

I wish at times that I too could escape from the confines of the field and run free without any fences.
