Veterans Day

Posted by torylynn at 12:29 AM on November 09, 2007
My daughter and her friend were playing a game at our house the other day and I asked them both what they thought of when they thought of Veterans Day. My daughters said she thinks about everyone who fights in a war. Her friend was very thoughtful before she answered and looked candidly at me with a little smile. This is what she said...

"Two things, my cousin is in Iraq right now and I think about all of the people fighting over there. I really miss my cousin and hope he can come home soon. What I also think about is my grandfather, even if it isn't Veterans Day I think about him. I never knew him and would have never known about him if it weren't for an assignment I had in school. I was in the 7th grade when I found out he was in a war and died a long time ago. My family gave me all kinds of information when I asked and I wrote a report on him about everything he did where he fought and how he died. I'm very glad I took the time to learn about him and that I had asked a lot of questions. This is what I think about on Veterans Day."

So, what do you think of when you think of Veterans Day?
